We offer a wide range of services from backing, schooling, holiday livery, problem solving, rehab livery, show prep and coaching

 

We pride ourselves in giving each horse the best experience possible, tailored to each individual. Every horse is different and learn in their own way. Our aim by the end of their time with us is to send home a happy, confident horse and owner. 

 

With our set up the horses are out 24/7 which we think benefits the horse both mentally and physically. We have a wide range of off-road hacking as our yard backs onto Creag Dhubh. Owners are welcome anytime and once the horse is ready, we encourage owners/riders to work their horse with us to give them an understanding of the new things the horse has learned.

As well as running Ruthven Equestrian, I manage Highland Horse Fun and Ormiston Highlands. Highland horse fun is a trekking centre in Kingussie using mainly Highland ponies. It is seasonal for tourist season here, which is April to October. Highland horse fun fits in well with Ruthven Equestrian as it gives owners the opportunity to ride safe sensible ponies to work on themselves before their ponies are ready. The Ormiston Highlands side of the business is the Highland Pony stud. We have between 2 and 10 foals every year. It is such a privilege to help make these foals, watch their births then go on to back the foals we keep.

On top of the above I work for Kessock Equine Vets based in Inverness. I love working there with a great bunch of people, as well as getting to see all types of illness/injury. This has helped to gain a wealth of knowledge on various injuries/illness and how to deal with them in the best way possible. 

​

Finally, I am always wanting to learn so far I have gained the below qualifications

BSc (hons) Equestrian Sport Science - Hartpury College.

- This degree looked at both horse and rider, to learn anatomy, physiology, nutrition, injury and rehab.
